| Barking Buddha Dogatm made its debut in the fall of 2006 in Seattle, Washington when licensed massage therapist and yoga instructor Brenda Bryan was asked to provide dog massage at a Humane Society charity event at Seattle's Hotel Monaco. The event was a doggie fashion show and Brenda was there to give massage to the "models." The doggie models were dogs available for adoption at the Humane Society. During the event Brenda began talking with a representative from the shelter who was curious about the service Brenda was providing for the dogs. As the conversation progressed Brenda mentioned she was a yoga instructor as well as a massage therapist and dog lover. She was asked to teach a dog yoga class at Seattle-King County Humane Society in Bellevue, just outside Seattle. Since then Brenda has developed Barking Buddha Dogatm, a yoga class that incorporates your dog into your practice. Brenda's classes give both yogi and dogi an opportunity to connect in a whole new way. Classes are now offered at various locations in the Seattle area. With a blend of classic Hatha yoga poses, massage and gentle stretching for you and your yoga partner, the relationship between dog and human is the primary focus. Everyone benefits from this unique way to practice yoga and spend time with your dog. Brenda's book "Barking Buddha Simple Soul Stretches for Yogi and Dogi" will be in stores Spring 2009 on Skipstone!
